I have a 1 TB Western Digital "My Book" External drive..the USB connection broke off. The drive itself is fine inside of the shell..Do they sell encasings or any thing that I can just replace, instead of paying some ridiculous amount for a hard drive recovery. I cant seem 2 find any.

My internet box and wireless router is in a room with no computers attached to it. All our computers are either wired up to the router or wireless. I attached my western digital external hard drive to the router via a usb connection. However, I can’t seem to access the files on the hard drive. What happened to my synced files on external hard drive?

I synced files from my hard drive to an external hard drive. After this, I went through the external hard drive and looked at random files. Everything seemed fine. I was able to open pictures and other files here and there. Now with the external hard drive hooked up to a new computer, I see all the same folders, but they are empty. Is it possible I only copied the folders, but the files themselves somehow didn’t transfer?
So how would I confirm that the files are actually there?
I used the sync program on the device, a Western Digital.

I’ve heard that when you delete files from an external hard drive, it’s still there. The only way to permanently rid it is to zero wipe it or zero erase.
How do I do this? Is there a software for it?

Background info: I’m on a PC, Window’s Vista. The external hard drive is a Western Digital Passport.

Again, I only want to zero wipe/erase everything off my external hard drive, not my computer hard drive.

Can I run a program when its installed on an external hard drive? 10pts?

I am thinking about getting a Western Digital 1TB My Book external hard drive. I want to install things like The Sims and other programs on the external drive and play while they are on the external hard drive. I have a laptop with low memory and don’t want to upgrade its hard drive, so if i could install programs on here and run them on my computer it would be great.
